The Whitstable Cake are a multi award-winning cake company based in Whitstable, Kent. Creating hand crafted delicious bespoke cakes and cupcakes for any occasion.
As lockdown began in March 2020, The Whitstable Cake Company adapted by changing their café from an eat-in space to a takeaway & delivery business offering cupcakes and afternoon teas. This proved instantly popular but the demand soon became unmanageable, spending more time on processing orders over the phone, arranging delivery dates and taking payments.
After our initial free consultation, we proposed and implemented a custom-coded online ordering system via their pre-existing website.
The ordering system included unique features tailored specifically to the business. This included the ability to limit orders, set specific delivery days, easily manage cake flavours and provide gift options. Two separate payment methods were integrated, along with automated notifications and CSV order exports.
The system proved very popular which led to further development of a full digital store solution for additional celebration cakes & cake boxes.
